I think the most rewarding part of being a dentist is the moment that the patient looks at you and smiles with a smile they've never shown before because maybe they were embarrassed of their smile. Often patients will maybe come in and just casually cover their mouth while they talk but then after you do the dental work, they look at you with a smile that they are so excited to show off and sometimes even tears in their eyes. And you can tell that you've given them a confidence that they never had before and that's a really good feeling.

Everybody wants to be their own boss, in theory. Dentistry offers that. It gets you the chance to help people, be your own boss, make decisions if you so choose. Some don't want to do that. I happen to like the management aspect of it and the business aspect of that.
I was a, I am an Ohio State dental graduate. I went to University of Virginia for undergraduate and I've had continued education every year for the last 37 years. I've learned implants. I have learned sedation dentistry. I have learned a lot of management aspects of it to be able to manage the business as we grew.
The most rewarding part of being a dentist is helping people. You get a chance to often change people's lives. Putting a filling in a four year old probably isn't going to change that child's life, but changing somebody's smile, say, changing somebody's whiter teeth makes them feel better about themselves or maybe never having a good smile, they always would put their hand in front of their smile before they did ... talk or to say anything. That's the most rewarding, and seeing people grow. Seeing my own team grow. My doctors grow. That is also very rewarding.
