Trust Our Nonsurgical Gum Disease Treatment

Most people fear finding cavities during dental exams. But while cavities are bad, periodontal disease (gum diseases) is actually the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. That’s why our dental team examine you for signs of gum disease during every dental exam. If we find any, we do a deep dental cleaning treatment to restore your gums to health. Contact our dental practice today for your dental exams and for your gum disease treatment.

Our staff includes several periodontists, doctors who specialize in diagnosing and gum disease treatment. So you know you are in expert hands for your gum disease treatment!

What Causes Gum Diseases?

Bacteria-filled plaque causes gum diseases. As bacteria collects in areas between your teeth and under gums, your gum tissues become inflamed and infected.

There are two stages of gum disease:

  • In the early stage, called gingivitis, your gums feel tender and inflamed and may bleed when you brush your teeth.
  • In a later stage, called periodontitis, your gums pull away from your teeth, making it easier for bacteria to collect and cause infection. The connective tissue that holds your teeth in place begins to break down.

For the most successful outcome, we want to treat it before it has a chance to get to the second and more serious stage.

Our Gum Disease Treatment Process

We treat gum diseases with a two-part deep dental cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing.

  • Scaling removes plaque and tartar from your gums and the “pockets” below your gumline
  • Root planing smoothes the roots of your teeth, which helps your gums more readily heal and reattach to your teeth

In advanced cases, we’ll need to lift your gums away from your teeth to remove all of the tartar. We’ll thoroughly numb your mouth so you won’t feel a thing! And we offer dental sedation if you need it.
